Master Health Plan
A single health insurance plan sponsored by a PEO that aggregates risk and purchasing power across all of its client employers.
A master health plan is a group health-insurance contract that the PEO holds in its name and offers to worksite employees across all participating client employers. The aggregated risk pool typically gives small employers access to richer benefits and more stable rates than they could obtain alone.
Master plans operate under large-group rules and are commonly self-insured or level-funded. Plan design, network, and rate stability vary widely between PEOs and are a major comparison axis during procurement.
