PFL (Paid Family Leave)
A subset of state paid-leave programs covering bonding with a new child or caring for a family member with a serious health condition.

PFL programs are typically administered alongside Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) where TDI exists. New York, California, and New Jersey operate the longest-standing PFL programs.
Unlike federal FMLA, PFL provides wage replacement during leave and applies to employers regardless of headcount in most states.
