Workers' Compensation
State-mandated insurance covering employee injuries and occupational illness. Premiums are class-coded by job duty.
Workers' compensation insurance covers medical costs and lost wages for employees injured on the job. Coverage is mandated by state law (with limited exceptions, e.g., Texas) and premiums are calculated using class codes that reflect the risk of each job duty.
Most PEOs include a workers' comp program in the bundle, often with pay-as-you-go billing tied to actual payroll. Comp pricing through a PEO can be materially different from a client's standalone market quote and is a primary source of savings for high-class-code workforces.
