ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)
Federal civil-rights law prohibiting discrimination based on disability and requiring reasonable accommodations in employment.
Title I of the ADA applies to employers with 15 or more employees and requires reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities, absent undue hardship. The interactive accommodation process is heavily documented in EEOC guidance.
PEOs commonly support clients in conducting interactive processes and documenting accommodation decisions, but legal liability for ADA compliance generally remains with the worksite employer.
